At LifeSkills, we are dedicated to empowering schools to deliver a meaningful curriculum that transforms the lives and learning of pupils and students.
We understand that schools face many challenges when looking to embed an ambitious curriculum vision across the entire institution, and need practical support that works for teachers with varying levels of capacity and experience. Our commitment is to support your school in delivering employability skills, linking the curriculum to careers, and building financial capability, ensuring every student has the best chance to thrive in their future.
As outlined by Ofsted in its open consultation, Improving the way Ofsted inspects education, a renewed process tailored to each education provider phase and type will shift the focus of inspection onto what is critical for learners in each setting.
LifeSkills is here to support schools and colleges in navigating these changes. One of the ways we are doing that is by giving your teams curated sequences of resources that they can use in classrooms to meet the needs of your learners and support your vision.
That’s why we have introduced our new, ready-made schemes of learning. They’re designed to help your school take a structured approach to embedding employability skills and financial education - whether that’s across a term or academic years. We have schemes of learning that your teams can use with different age groups, starting at 5 and going up to 19.
We know that as leaders, you need to be able to take a bird’s eye view of the curriculum too – to understand where learners have been and where they’re going. For that reason, we’ve also introduced two progression maps (covering our themes of financial education and employability skills), showing how the topics and learning can be sequenced and build on each other across a learner’s entire time in your school.
Together, they can support a progressive, joined-up approach across your entire school, giving your teams more tools to use as a foundation for collaboration and to build a common language - within and beyond teams, departments or phases.
We know as leaders, you need to be able to tell the story of how your curriculum vision is being embedded consistently and coherently across the school. These resources are designed to help your teams evidence this joined-up approach and impact, making it easier to demonstrate the effectiveness of your curriculum to stakeholders, including Ofsted.
We hope that by providing tools to make embedding employability skills and financial education easier, we can support teachers in your schools to deepen learning and continue to provide a high-quality education aligned with national curriculums and the latest evidence.
To get started, visit our new hub page and take a look at the schemes of learning and progression maps for both financial education and employability skills. We hope these can be a valuable tool to help your teams deliver consistent quality teaching and further embed employability skills and financial education in your schools - and look forward to hearing how you get on.
